Our Program Model
Parent Coaching
Learning is relationship based. Research shows better outcomes for children in early intervention programs when a family centered approach is used. That is why Little Red School House's highly qualified Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Special Educators, and Counselors use a hands-on coaching model to empower and support caregivers, strengthening their capacity to meet the special needs of their infants and toddlers with disabilities.
Staff specialists coach and provide support to parents at home in the child's natural learning environment, identifying learning opportunities in daily family routines such as bath time, mealtime, or during play.
At Little Red, our success stems from a foundational belief in the importance of families and a strength-based early intervention model that maximizes each child's ability to thrive. Little Red programs and services strengthen the unique ability of parents to promote their child's optimal development now, and into the future.
Each family member is an essential part of the early intervention team. Focusing on the inherent strengths of the child's first teachers -- the people they know and love -- Little Red staff enhance the confidence and competence of the child's caregivers.
By investing early, during the principal years of a child's development, there is the greatest chance of changing the course of a child's ability to overcome developmental delays and succeed at the highest possible level in school, and later, as an adult.
Here at Little Red, staff work with families living in Snohomish County, Washington. Little Red contracts with six local school districts, the Snohomish County Division of Developmental Disabilities, and the Washington State Infant/Toddler Program, and provides extensive outreach and early intervention services for "at risk" children living in local homeless shelters, and children living on the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
