Family Intake Process
Eligible families will begin receiving services within 75 days after the first conversation with a Family Resource Coordinator.
STEP 1: Referral
Contact Little Red:
Lynnwood: (425) 775-6070
Everett: (425) 513-1663
STEP 2: 1st Conversation
A Little Red Family Resource Coordinator will:
- Explain early intervention and process
- Discuss eligibility criteria of ITEIP (link to glossary page) program
- Schedule 1st evaluation of child
STEP 3: 1st Evaluation
Professional staff team will use two evaluation tools to review child's ability in all five developmental areas:
- Motor skills
- Cognitive skills
- Communication skills
- Social/Emotional skills
- Adaptive skills
Evaluation scores in each developmental area determine eligibility for the ITEIP (*link to glossary page) program.
Eligible
A child qualifies for Early Intervention Services if he/she demonstrates a 25% delay in one or more area. If the child's evaluation rates his or her abilities as meeting criteria set by the State of Washington, the enrollment process begins.
Not Eligible
If the child's evaluation score rates his or her abilities within the range of typically developing children (a score of 24% or less), they are not eligible for Little Red services. At the family's request, the Family Resource Coordinator can provide information about other community resources (*link to parent resources page). After 3-6 months, if there are still concerns, families are welcome to contact Little Red for a second evaluation.
STEP 4: Enrollment
Within 45 days of the 1st conversation with the Family Resource Coordinator, an eligible family will be scheduled for the initial Individualized Family Service Plan meeting (IFSP).
STEP 5: 1st Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) Meeting
Each family member is an equal member of the early intervention team. At the initial IFSP meeting, the assigned Family Resource Coordinator and the family work together to develop a customized Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), identifying the desired family outcomes.
The Family Resource Coordinator serves as the parent's primary coach and is the primary service provider for the family. The hands-on coaching program will begin within 30 days of the initial IFSP meeting. All services are provided in the child's natural learning environment – where the child lives and plays.
Throughout the coaching program, at three-six month intervals, additional IFSP meetings will be held to identify progress toward the desired family outcomes. Adjustments will be made, as necessary, to the IFSP to make sure that the customized program is addressing all early intervention needs identified by the family.
